General Information

The school is held at the Brandolini Colomban Castle in Cison di Valmarino, 40 kilometers north of Treviso, in Veneto, in the north-east of Italy. The castle is now a hotel with meeting, sporting, recreational and well-being facilities.

Accommodation

Accommodation in a double room is 172€ per person (course participant only), per day, which includes full board. A small number of single rooms can be booked at an extra charge on a first-come first-served basis. More information can be found in the course application form and in the hotel accommodation form in the application section of the website. We recommend staying at the Hotel CastelBrando, which is also the course venue. However, students may book other accommodation, but should always book at least half board at the castle (see "FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVICES (WITHOUT STAY)" in the accommodation form.

Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available for accredited university students. Students from EU, UK or North America are not eligible for scholarships. Deadline for application is 29th of January 2025. The decision will be made within a week. Scholarships cover at most half of the tuition cost, and no other expenses. Please see the application form for more information.

Registration Fee

The registration fee includes only the course tuition. Accommodation and meals are not included in the tuition fee and should be booked separately (see application).s The final deadline for registration is May 24, 2025. The fees below include a non-refundable € 200 deposit fee. Course fees depend on whether the applicant is currently a student at an accredited university, and on the timing of enrollment, according to the table below.

The Sunday courses are independent from the Course Blocks. Standard fee for is 450€ each, but Summer School students pay a fee of 300€ per course. A discount of 10% on tuition only will be applied to returning students. A (non-cumulative) discount of 15% on tuition only will be applied to members of the International Biometric Society (IBS), the Italian Statistical Society (SIS) and the SISMEC. Notice also that in most courses, Stata® is the statistical software used.

Visa

Participants are responsible for obtaining a visa to Italy, if necessary. The School urges applicants to contact the course administration as early as possible, if they require an invitation letter.

Cancellation Policy

A cancellation arriving to the Summer School administrator by 31th of March 2025 will entitle the applicant to a full refund of the tuition, after withholding the deposit fee (200€). A cancellation arriving after this time, but still before the start of the course, will entitle the applicant to receive a 50% refund of the tuition, after withholding the deposit fee (200€). So, in both cases the deposit fee (200 €) will not be refundable. In all other cases (including no-shows, premature departure) the tuition will not be reimbursed. Cancellation must be made in writing. In the unlikely event that a course(s) needs to be canceled, the School will make this decision as early as possible and will notify the students. In no event will the School be responsible for costs incurred by canceled travel reservations.
